West Warwick Housing Authority Receives Another High Performer
Status for Its Section 8 Program
Just days after receiving word from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that it had achieved High-Performer status for its Public Housing Program, the WWHA was informed that its Section 8 program received High Performer designation as well.
The WWHA scored a 93 out of 100 points on HUD’s Section 8 Management Assessment Program, known as SEMAP. It is the second consecutive year that the program received the high performing status.
The SEMAP system is comprised of fourteen indicators of which the WWHA received maximum scores on twelve of the fourteen indicators.
Some of the indicators that are reviewed are: wait list, rent reasonableness, determination of income adjustments, housing quality control, payment standards, inspections, and more.
The chairman of the WWHA’s board of commissioners stated, “I am delighted that we have received high performing status for the two major programs we administer with federal funds. I want to thank the staff, especially the Leased Housing Manager, for their achievement.”
The WWHA was founded in 1962 and manages 250 units of public housing and over 160 units of Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. WWHA is home to approximately 275 elderly and disabled residents.
